CFD, animal activists see two different rodeos
The president of Showing Animals Respect and Kindness, or SHARK, has been coming to CFD personally or sending members of the group to film the rodeo since 2005. In an interview, he said those improvements should be givens, and that they did little to change his view of CFD as “the most deadly rodeo that we know about.”
He said if CFD truly cared about animals more than money, officials would do something about the wild horse race. The event was one of CFD’s original three back in 1897, and remains a popular tradition today. Cowboys regularly describe the event to reporters as an exhilarating team experience.
But Hindi says it’s “nothing but the terrorizing of horses to make drunks laugh.”
