DEAR FRIENDS,
There is only one month left before legislation In Vermont, H.218, that would reduce minimum cage sizes for dogs and cats becomes law. Renowned VT based veterinarian Peggy Larson alerted us to this issue and we've been working with her and another long time VT humane officer to try to stop this bad legislation from becoming law.
Only those who treat dogs and cats as commodities would benefit from this, such as puppy mills, as they would be able to have more animals in smaller cages.
Dogs and cats will endure greater hardships in VT as minimum cages sizes will be reduced if H.218 becomes law
Tragically, HSUS has endorsed this bill and, though we have reached out to HSUS President Wayne Pacelle a number of times, they are refusing to join with us in calling for the Governor to veto the bill, and instead are determined to try to save face by not admitting they made a terrible mistake.
We need VT Governor Phil Scott to veto the legislation before July 1, or it will become law! Please immediately contact VT Governor Phil Scott and ask him to veto H.218.

Please also contact the following members of the HSUS Board of Directors and ask for their help in getting HSUS to reverse their support and join us in helping kill the bill. Please be polite and respectful.
